Office of Legislative Affairs
The Office of Legislative Affairs monitors state and federal bills related to emergency management and disaster preparedness. The office provides timely bill analyses that objectively analyze key points and impacts of proposed legislation. The office also provides technical assistance and consults with legislative staff and stakeholders as appropriate, and ensures that implementation occurs following enactment of new statutes that affect Cal EMA and its programs.
Office of Audits and Evaluation
The Office of Audits and Evaluation assists the Cal EMA Executive Management team in the effective and efficient management of Cal EMA activities. The Office provides an independent appraisal of Cal EMA operations and programs. The Office operates in the Executive Division of Cal EMA as a unit of the Legal Services Branch, and performs comprehensive reviews of Cal EMA programs and internal controls. Staff also respond to requests for special reviews and consulting projects.
Office of Public Information
Distributing public information during a crisis and educating the public about ongoing disaster preparedness is the continuing responsibility of the Cal EMA Office of Public Information and Media Relations. It’s estimated that this year OPI staff will respond to more than 2,000 calls from news media for immediate information, as well as requests from the general public requesting preparedness information, Cal EMA publications, or assistance on planning local outreach events.
