Earthquake and Tsunami Program
The destructive potential of a major earthquake affecting large urban areas of California and the
danger of tsunamis along California’s coast merit a concerted independent statewide effort to
reduce vulnerabilities, plan for catastrophic events and mitigate the hazards where possible.
Mission:
The Cal EMA Earthquake and Tsunami Program will promote the safety of California residents through
a statewide program of planning and technical assistance, public education and information and
technology transfer to public and private sector organizations.
Programs:
California Integrated Seismic Network (CISN)
 | The California Integrated Seismic Network (CISN) is a partnership among federal, state, and university agencies involved in California earthquake monitoring. Cal EMA provides funding and staffing to support the development and expansion of the CISN to promote the development and use of rapidly available seismic information. This link will take you directly to the CISN website.
